ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar was arrested by the anti-terrorist squad outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.
He was taken into custody while he and his colleagues were preparing to file a plea seeking a meeting with party chief Imran Khan, who was arrested a day earlier.
PTI lawyers tried to intervene, but Umar was taken away.
The police also attempted to arrest PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, but were prevented by the lawyers and other party workers.
Umar was booked in two cases registered against PTI leaders following the protests that took place after Khan’s arrest.
