ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has suspended the notification from December 26 that added Sardar Latif Khosa’s name to the Exit Control List (ECL) until the next hearing.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani issued a written order allowing Khosa, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to travel abroad between January 10 and January 24. The court also directed the Secretary of Interior to ensure that Khosa is not stopped from leaving the country and to inform the relevant authorities, including the NAB, FIA, police, and immigration officials, about the court’s decision.

The written ruling stated that Khosa presented a flight ticket showing his intention to travel to Canada from January 10 to January 24. He has also submitted surety bonds to the High Court and the Anti-Terrorism Court.

The court has postponed further proceedings in the case until February 6.

The day before, the Islamabad High Court had granted permission for senior lawyer and PTI leader Latif Khosa to leave the country. When asked about the possibility of his arrest, the DSP Legal responded that while arrest was not planned, he would inquire further.

The court questioned how many cases under Section 188 have been filed and whether the names of all accused have been placed on the ECL. It asked whether there was a risk that Khosa might flee and not return.

Khosa explained that he was unable to travel on January 5 as planned but now intends to fly to Canada. The court instructed him to provide an affidavit in the trial court, promising to appear when summoned.

The hearing was adjourned with the court’s approval for Khosa’s foreign trip, along with specific instructions.

It is important to note that a case has been registered against Latif Khosa at the Secretariat Police Station in connection with a protest outside the Supreme Court.
