The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has cancelled all Eid holidays of its staff and announced a large-scale cleanliness operation for Eid-ul-Adha, aiming to make Lahore a zero-waste city during the festival.
LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din said over 15,000 workers and officers will remain on duty throughout Eid to ensure cleanliness. Sanitation operations will continue in three shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
Special focus will be given to cattle markets, bus stands, lorry depots, commercial areas, and public gathering spots. LWMC has already deployed additional staff at these locations. Machinery will also be available in all three shifts on roads leading to Jamia Mosques, graveyards, and Eid prayer grounds.
To improve waste collection during the three-day festival, 1.5 million biodegradable bags will be provided to citizens for proper disposal of animal waste. These bags will be available at 300 special camps across Lahore.
LWMC has also set up 104 temporary collection points across the city to gather and transport waste more efficiently.
