Maryam emphasized that the project’s goal is to ensure accessibility and independence for special persons.

The chief minister said, “With a wheelchair, persons with disabilities will no longer need assistance for mobility.” Under this programme, eligible individuals can apply for wheelchairs and hearing aids.

Applications can be submitted online via the Social Welfare Department’s portal (awc.punjab.gov.pk), enabling applicants to complete the process from the comfort of their homes.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Maryam Nawaz said, “The rehabilitation of special persons is among the Punjab government’s top priorities. I want them to live lives as easy and fulfilling as others. Seeing special people happy is one of life’s greatest joys.”

By the deadline, 4,957 applications had been received for the programme, which facilitates mass marriages for underprivileged girls. In the programme’s first phase, the Punjab government has allocated Rs500 million for the marriages of 1,500 couples.

The Punjab Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Department will oversee a total of 3,000 mass marriages at the cost of Rs1 billion.

Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt stated that Muzaffargarh received the highest number of applications (307), followed by Lahore (269), while Gujrat recorded the lowest (15).
