PDMA warned that temperatures are expected to rise sharply in major cities and plains of Punjab. The temperature could be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal. Strong winds and dust storms are also possible in some areas.

Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that arrangements must be made to provide clean drinking water at public places, and ensure availability of first aid in hospitals and mobile health units for heatstroke patients.

He advised the public to take precautions during the hot weather. People working outdoors should protect themselves from the sun. Wear light-colored clothes, cover your head, take care of children and the elderly, and avoid unnecessary travel during the day.

PDMA is also spreading awareness about the heatwave through print, social, and electronic media. In case of an emergency, citizens can contact PDMA helpline 1129 or Rescue 1122.
