What is Fied Marshal in Pakistan’s Army?
Field Marshal is a five-star rank in the army and is higher than a full General. It is usually given as an honorary title to officers who have shown extraordinary service, leadership in war, or played an important role in national defence.
According to defence analysts, this rank does not involve active command but is a symbol of honour for the officer’s lifetime achievements and dedication to the country.
General Asim Munir is now the second person in Pakistan’s history to receive this title. The first was President General Ayub Khan, who was awarded the rank of Field Marshal in 1959.
Officials say this honour was given to General Munir for his strong leadership, his role in Operation Baaniyaan-ul-Marsous, and his services in protecting national security.
The title of Field Marshal reflects trust, respect, and national recognition of General Munir’s contribution to the armed forces and the country.
