The provincial government aims to improve Murree Road, a key route in Rawalpindi. Repair work and beautification will begin together, giving the road a fresh look.

Murree Road was last paved in 2016, and potholes have formed at places like Marrir Chowk, Naz Cinema, Chandni Chowk, and Shamsabad. Construction in the city has caused issues for drivers.

Mohammad Ali, a motorist, said bumpy roads and construction materials in Saddar damage vehicles. He suggested clearing completed construction sites at Saddar, Teli Mohallah, Naz Cinema, Sixth Road, and Shamsabad.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said Murree Road repairs will begin in July after The Mall project is complete. The RDA has prepared plans and is waiting for Punjab government approval. The project includes repaving and building roadside drains.

Murtaza also mentioned plans for a new route between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, along with work on Leh Expressway and a road from Chandni Chowk to Siddiqui Chowk.

Separately, the provincial government, following suggestions from local lawmakers, plans to study the possibility of building underpasses at Chandni Chowk and Marrir Chowk on Murree Road, and a flyover on IJ Principal Road. The RDA proposed these projects for 2025-26, with Rs40 million allocated for each.
