ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide alert about heavy monsoon rains and potential flooding in various parts of Pakistan in the coming days.
The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of NDMA has issued several weather alerts based on expected widespread rain, thunderstorms, and isolated heavy downpours across Pakistan from June 29 to July 5.
The NEOC advisory emphasizes precautions against flash floods in mountainous areas and urban flooding in major cities. People are advised to stay vigilant and follow official guidance.
In Punjab, cities like Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, and Lahore may experience moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms during this period.

Central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Kohat, could face urban flooding due to heavy showers. Northern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, such as Hazara and Malakand Divisions, are also at risk of flash flooding according to NEOC.
In the Potohar region (Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Islamabad), urban flooding is likely, especially during nighttime hours from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am on June 29.
Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin, is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 2 to 5, potentially leading to urban flooding due to inadequate drainage systems.

Reports from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) indicate that heavy rains and landslides in KP have resulted in at least 20 fatalities and 10 injuries. Over 50 homes in Swat were partially damaged, and six were completely destroyed.
In Punjab, 15 people, including eight children, lost their lives due to collapsed walls and roofs during heavy rains since Wednesday, as reported by local disaster management authorities.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has cautioned that the risk of heavy rains and flash floods will persist until at least Tuesday.
