LAHORE: Summer vacations in schools and colleges across Punjab are likely to begin from May 23, due to the ongoing heatwave in the province. Although the Punjab government has not issued an official notification yet, sources suggest that the rising temperatures may push authorities to start the holidays earlier than usual.
According to the details, a few days ago, government officials stated that if the heat intensifies further, schools could close by the end of the third week of May.
The Punjab School Education Department has proposed that the official summer break should run from June 1 to August 9, but this schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

Despite discussions on potential dates, there has been no formal announcement or notification regarding school closures so far. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted another severe heatwave in the coming days.

It should be noted that the Punjab government has not issued a formal notification yet, but the department has initially confirmed the dates.
On the other hand, the education departments of Punjab, as well as other provinces, are also considering summer vacations, and their announcement is expected soon.

Last year, the Punjab School Education Department announced the annual summer vacation schedule for the province. According to the announcement, summer vacations for schools across Punjab started on June 1 and ended on August 14.
According to the estimates of meteorologists, this year’s heat wave may be more intense than usual, in view of which the education department has adopted a flexible policy and has the option to change the holidays according to the situation.
Parents and students have been requested to wait for the official notification issued by the education department to avoid any kind of disruption.
