LAHORE: An incident happened near the Dharampura Underpass on Canal Road in Lahore. Armed guards from a private security company, who were escorting a luxury vehicle or foreign guests, got into an argument with a car driver named Muhammad Imran, a clothing trader.
The argument started when traffic slowed down at the underpass, and Imran didn’t give way to the guards’ vehicle.
According to a video that spread on social media and statements from Imran, more than a dozen guards carrying rifles got out of their double-cabin vehicles.
One guard pointed a gun at Imran and fired, hitting his car. The bullet went through the car’s bonnet, damaging the radiator.
Imran said the guard tried to shoot again, but he got out of his car and overpowered the attacker. Other drivers at the scene supported Imran and criticized the guards. The video showed the other guards hitting Imran with a rifle butt before trying to help their colleague and leave.
Traffic congestion and the arrival of the Dolphin Police made it hard for them to escape, so they left one vehicle and some weapons behind. Imran also used his car to block their path, stopping some of them from getting away.

Lahore police said the Dolphin team arrived after being alerted, seized the abandoned vehicle and weapons, and arrested four of the guards. The rest fled and could not be found right away.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took notice of the incident and ordered a case to be filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the guards, the person they were escorting, and the security company.
A police team is now using Safe City cameras to track down the remaining suspects, including a police official possibly linked to the event. The case was registered on Friday at Mughalpura Police Station.
Imran later posted on social media, explaining that he acted to stop the guard from firing again. He said people at the scene stepped in and started recording, which made the attackers run off. Police are still investigating and working to find everyone involved.
