Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘School Meal Program’ continues to run successfully, delivering positive outcomes.
Since its launch, the program has significantly helped reduce malnutrition among students. The first phase has also resulted in savings of Rs. 1.78 billion, as per Punjab government sources.
Over the past few months, the initiative has led to the enrollment of more than 55,000 new students, marking a remarkable achievement. In Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, schools have received over 40 million milk packets, while students in these districts have received more than 35 million milk packets.
As per Government sources, the number of enrolled students has risen from 361,000 to 416,000, reflecting the program’s growing impact.

Following CM Maryam Nawaz’s directives, transparency and competitive tendering have been ensured to enhance cost-effectiveness, sources said. Additionally, a strong monitoring and management system has been introduced to streamline operations.
According to the Punjab government, CM Maryam Nawaz has instructed officials to expand the program to additional districts, including Bhakkar and Layyah, to extend its benefits to a larger number of students.
She reaffirmed her commitment, stating, “All necessary resources are available for students, and the program will be expanded gradually.
At the start of the program, government officials stated that the Chief Minister Punjab’s School Nutrition Program aims to benefit primary school children in Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Dera Ghazi Khan, with plans to expand across Punjab.
Initially, 400,000 children in these districts will receive a pack of milk daily, and this number will increase as the program grows.
As per the Green Punjab Policy, 1.3 crore milk packets will be recycled every month to ensure environmental sustainability.
