ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan started a new digital ID card to celebrate 25 years of managing legal identities and national data. This happened during an event in Islamabad.
According to the reports, the new ID card will be part of the Pak ID mobile app. This means people won’t need to carry a physical ID card anymore.
Soon, digital systems will be used to check identities for different services. This is part of a World Bank project called the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP). A test version of this digital ID will begin on August 14, 2025. Nadra held an event at its headquarters to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent messages congratulating Nadra on its work. The State Bank of Pakistan released a special coin, and Pakistan Post made a new stamp to mark the occasion.
President Zardari said Nadra helps give people a legal identity and connects the government with citizens. He asked Nadra to keep using new technology to work better and make services easier to use.
