KARACHI: Due to a noticeable temperature drop, the Sindh government announced on Friday a modification in school hours province-wide.
As outlined by the notification released by the Sindh Education and Literacy Department, all public and private schools in the province will commence operations from 8:30 am onwards.
This decision has been made in response to the prevalent severe cold weather conditions in the province, stated the notification, further specifying that the adjusted timings will be effective until January 31, 2024.
The alteration in school schedules comes after the resumption of classes on January 1, following a 10-day winter vacation that started on December 22, 2023.
Moreover, the upcoming academic year for both public and private schools in Sindh is slated to begin on April 15, 2024, while colleges will commence theirs on August 1, 2024.
Sindh isn’t the sole province grappling with severe cold; the Punjab government, due to harsh weather circumstances, has extended the winter holidays for public and private educational institutions until January 9.
Subsequently, schools in Punjab are set to reopen on January 10 with stringent guidelines mandating the use of face masks within school premises.
