ISLAMABAD: The federal government has scheduled a four-day meeting of the Central Selection Board (CSB) starting March 10, 2025, the meeting will focus on promoting officers to grades 20 and 21, around 1,000 officers are expected to be promoted during this session.
A private newspaper report said that a separate meeting of the High-Powered Selection Board may be held later this month, this meeting will consider promotions from BS-21 to BS-22, with over 40 officers likely to be promoted to grade 22.
The Establishment Division has issued a notification about the Central Selection Board meeting. The agenda and related documents will be released soon, board will approve promotions for officers moving from grade 19 to 20 and from grade 20 to 21, meeting will be led by Federal Public Service Commission Chairman Lt-Gen (R) Akhtar Nawaz Sati.

On the other hand, the federal government has abolished 11,877 posts from grade 1 to grade 22 in Pakistan. The Establishment Division has provided details of the abolished posts to the parliament, as per the sources.
According to the Establishment Division, 11,764 posts from grade 1 to 18 and 113 posts from grade 19 to 22 have been removed.
This decision was made by the federal cabinet in August 2024. The cabinet had decided to abolish 60% of vacant regular posts. As a result, posts in various ministries and divisions have been removed.
These include two advisor posts in grade 22, 26 posts in grade 20, and 85 posts in grade 19. Similarly, 135 posts in grade 18, 445 in grade 17, and 552 in grade 16 have been abolished.
