RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Home Department has announced that the provincial assembly has passed a bill to completely ban kite flying, after which violators will be severely punished.

According to the report, the Punjab Home Department says that the Punjab Assembly has passed the Complete Ban on Kite Flying Amendment Act 2024.

According to the Punjab Home Department, kite flying has been declared a non-bailable offense in Punjab, and violations will be punished with imprisonment for a minimum of 3 years to 7 years.

The Punjab Home Department says that a fine of Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 5,000,000 will be imposed for kite flying, kite manufacturing, sale, and transportation.

The ban applies to kites, metal wires, nylon cords, strings, and all threads with sharp edges used for the purpose of kite flying.

According to the Home Department, there will be a complete ban on the manufacture and transportation of kite flying materials, while the kite flyer will be imprisoned for 3 to 5 years or fined Rs. 2,000,000, or both.

The kite maker and transporter will be punished with 5 to 7 years of imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 5,000,000, or both. A person involved in kite flying will be fined Rs. 50,000 for the first offense and Rs. 100,000 for the second offense.

The Punjab Home Department says that many precious lives were lost due to the use of sharp strings during kite flying. To protect human lives, a law was passed to completely ban kite flying.
