ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced that it will celebrate “Youm-e-Tameer o Taraqi” (Day of Development and Progress) on February 8, 2025 to mark one year since the general elections.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, Atta Tarar said that economic stability is linked to political stability. He added that this year has been a successful one for Pakistan, with the stock market reaching record highs and the economy improving.
Tarar mentioned that positive news is coming in about the economy, and inflation is decreasing under the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He stressed the need for tolerance in politics and all areas, including sports, where there should be less bitterness and more sportsmanship.
He stated that February 8 marked the beginning of development in the country, so it will be celebrated as the Day of Development and Progress.

Tarar also said the importance of promoting sports. He welcomed the Champions Trophy being held in Pakistan and said that the excitement in the country’s cricket stadiums is returning.
He praised the Pakistan cricket team’s performance against the West Indies and highlighted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s efforts in this regard.
He mentioned that top teams will come to Pakistan to play, and thanked the PCB and Mohsin Naqvi for their hard work. He confirmed that all preparations for the Champions Trophy are complete, and fans will get to enjoy great cricket.
The Information Minister also praised the Media Cricket League held in the capital, calling it a success. He congratulated the winning team for their performance.
It is important to note that February 8 marks one year since the general elections. PTI founder Imran Khan has called the elections rigged and instructed his party to plan a protest strategy.
