TEHRAN, Iran – Two senior Iranian judges were shot and killed outside the Supreme Court in Tehran on Saturday morning, state media reported.
The state-run news agency IRNA said the judges died instantly in the attack, which also left another person injured. The shooting happened in a busy area in central Tehran.
The judiciary’s media center called the incident a “premeditated action.” It described the victims as judges who worked to protect public security.
The judges were identified as Hojjat al-Islam Razini and Hojjat al-Islam Muslimeen Moghisheh. Both worked in separate judicial branches in Tehran.
Police said their initial investigation showed the attacker did not have a case at the Supreme Court or any link to the judges’ branches.
Reports said the attacker took his own life after the shooting.
There has been no response yet from senior political or military officials.
