ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced on Monday that it will launch Pakistan’s EO-1 Satellite on January 17. The satellite will be launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China.
SUPARCO said the launch marks an important step in Pakistan’s space exploration and technological progress.
“The EO-1 mission highlights SUPARCO’s work in advancing Pakistan’s space technology,” the commission said in a statement.
The satellite, developed in Pakistan, is a key achievement in the country’s space journey. It will help Pakistan improve its ability to manage natural resources, predict and respond to disasters, support food security, and boost economic growth.
The EO-1 satellite will benefit several sectors in Pakistan, such as agriculture and urban development. In agriculture, it will support precision farming by monitoring crops, assessing irrigation needs, predicting yields, and improving food security.
For urban development, the satellite will help track infrastructure growth, control urban sprawl, and assist in city and regional planning.
