MANDI BAHAUDDIN: A firecracker explosion in Kot Phulley Shah area claimed six lives and injured seven others, private tv channel reported on Saturday.
Rescue teams stated that four of the deceased were from the same family, including four women and a female child.
The injured and deceased were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Phalia, and Rural Health Centre Pahrianwali for treatment and legal procedures.
The explosion occurred at a house where fireworks were being prepared. The blast also caused the roofs of the house and a nearby house to collapse.
According to officials, the incident happened in the early hours when the families were asleep. Four family members from the house where the fireworks were prepared died. A woman and a child from the neighboring house also lost their lives due to the roof collapse.

It may be recalled that earlier, five children died of suffocation in the Gujrat area of Punjab. As per the reports, the bodies of five children were found in a house near Bakra Mandi on Shah Jahangir Road in Gujrat.
Rescue sources said the deceased included four brothers and one sister, whose bodies were shifted to DHQ Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. The children were identified as 13-year-old Laiba, 11-year-old Hashim, 10-year-old Hadi, 6-year-old Khanan, and 6-year-old Fayyaz.
The mother said she had gone to the hospital and found the children unconscious in the room upon her return. The children had burned coal in the room to stay warm during the cold. According to initial investigations, they died of suffocation.
