KARACHI: Ameer Qadri, the Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), has been removed from his position. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the appointment of Sharf Ali Shah, Chairman of the Matriculation Board, to take over as the new Chairman of the Inter Board.
According to a notification issued, Ameer Qadri has been dismissed as Chairman of the Karachi Intermediate Board, while Sharf Ali Shah, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), has been given the additional charge of the position.
As per the report, Ameer Qadri has been given seven days to explain his absence from the country. The authorities have termed his action as a violation of service rules and discipline, and disciplinary action will be recommended if he fails to provide an explanation.
The decision was taken after a controversy erupted over the Intermediate results in Karachi. Students protested outside the Inter Board office, demanding a review of the results.
The students alleged that those who scored 80 to 85 percent in Matric were given less than 50 percent marks in the first year and were failed in several subjects. The matter was also discussed in the Sindh Assembly, where a heated debate broke out among the members.

According to the released results, 33% of students passed in Pre-Medical, 29% of students succeeded in Pre-Engineering, and the success rate among students in the Inter first-year results was recorded as very low.
Inter Science Pre-Medical Group Results;
According to the results of the Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi, 30,528 candidates participated in the Science Pre-Medical Group exams.
Only 35% (10,914 candidates) passed all six papers, 4,055 candidates passed five papers, 3,429 passed four papers, 4,099 passed three papers, 3,598 passed two papers, and 2,476 passed one paper.
What were the results of the Science Pre-Engineering Group exams?
22,973 candidates participated in the Science Pre-Engineering Group exams, of which 29% (6,674 candidates) passed all six papers, 2,715 passed five papers, 2,866 passed four papers, 3,486 passed three papers, 2,831 passed two papers, and 2,281 candidates were declared successful in one paper.
