LAHORE: Fourteen officers and personnel of the Punjab Police were sentenced for dereliction of duty and violation of discipline.
As per the private tv channel report, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran heard 18 show-cause notices issued to officials for various shortcomings and sentenced 10 officials on the spot.
DIG Operations, while announcing the decisions in the Ardal Room at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh, said that service and salary forfeiture, increment stoppages, and other punishments were imposed. Four officials were given a final warning to correct their responsibilities.
He said that departmental accountability plays a key role in forming the best force. There is no room for work theft or corruption in the Lahore Police. Those who exceed their powers are enemies of both the public and the police force.
The DIG Operations stated that there is a zero-tolerance policy. Strict accountability for corruption and abuse of authority will be enforced. Those who perform their duties honestly will be encouraged, and a few black sheep will not be allowed to bring disrepute to the entire department.

On the other hand, according to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed on security duty across the province, including Lahore, for the arrival of the New Year.
A total of 395 inspectors, 1,125 sub-inspectors, 2,060 ASIs, 1,310 head constables, and 18,759 constables and other personnel will be on duty. The spokesperson stated that more than 5,000 officers and personnel will be deployed on security duty in Lahore.
All activities will be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras across the province, including Lahore. The IG Punjab has directed the police to remain on high alert and keep a close watch on anti-national elements.
Inspector General of Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that one-wheeling, aerial firing, and rioting will not be allowed on New Year’s Eve. Miscreants who riot and harass women or citizens will be taken into custody.
