KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that it will remain closed for public dealing on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of a ‘Bank Holiday’.
According to an official notification from SBP, all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs) and microfinance banks (MFBs) across the country will also remain closed to the public on this date (January 1, 2025).
However, the central bank clarified that employees of these institutions are required to attend their offices as usual.

It should be noted that earlier, the State Bank of Pakistan, banks, and other financial institutions were closed on December 25 on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
The State Bank of Pakistan had stated in a statement, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2024 (Wednesday), on account of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, a public holiday.”
Along with the State Bank, other banks and public and private financial institutions were also closed on December 25, 2024.
