RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has decided to make Lahore Pakistan’s first modern smart city with the cooperation of a Chinese technology company.
As per report, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who is on a visit to China, visited a Chinese technology company in Longgang District, Shanghai, where she was warmly welcomed.
During the visit of the Punjab Chief Minister, it was decided to make Lahore Pakistan’s first modern smart city with the cooperation of a Chinese technology company.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz invited the Chinese technology company to invest in Pakistan, especially in Punjab. The Chief Minister also offered cooperation to the Chinese company to set up an office in Nawaz Sharif IT City.

Maryam Nawaz assured the Chinese technology company of cooperation in setting up an assembly and manufacturing plant in Punjab. However, the offer to the Chinese technology company to set up a Punjab retail office and an after-sales service center was rejected.
The Chief Minister met with Wang Chengdong, President of the Chinese technology company’s Government Affairs division, where various suggestions and recommendations were discussed to make Lahore a modern digital city. Maryam Nawaz also invited Wang Chengdong to visit Lahore.
In the meeting between Maryam Nawaz and Wang Chengdong, topics such as e-commerce, ecosystem production, and the digitalization of health and education departments were discussed.
