ISLAMABA: Short video-sharing platform TikTok, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has announced the launch of the Digital Safety contest to create digital safety awareness among the youth across Pakistan.

As per media report, the contest invites TikTok creators to produce short and impactful videos that highlight six key areas.

The content creators participating in the competition will focus on the responsible use of social media, combating online harassment, preventing online fraud, ensuring the safety and well-being of youth, understanding TikTok safety tools, and using social media platforms responsibly.

They will also be able to create short videos on topics like stopping misinformation. Through the competition, TikTok and PTA aim to encourage users of the platform to promote the trend of verifying information before sharing and spreading the message of digital safety.

By participating in this contest, users will help educate others about responsible online behavior and contribute to creating a safer digital environment for everyone.

Report says the Digital Safety contest is part of TikTok’s ongoing efforts to uphold these values and maintain a safe and positive presence for its global community. Creators can enter the contest by tagging @ptaofficialpk and posting their videos with the hashtag Digital Safety.

It is necessary to fill out the form on the official hashtag page of the competition on TikTok, available in English and Urdu, and submit it along with the videos. The page can be accessed by searching for the hashtag Digital Safety on the app.

Successful videos will be selected based on content quality, relevance to the topic, and adherence to TikTok’s community guidelines. The results will be announced on the official hashtag page, and the winning participant will be awarded an Apple iPad Air, while two runners-up will receive Samsung smartphones.

Users aged 13 years and above can participate in the competition. This partnership between TikTok and PTA reflects a shared commitment to increasing digital literacy and security in Pakistan. The competition, which started on October 20, will continue until November 5, 2024.
