Sindh govt to launch double-decker buses to enhance Karachi public transport

KARACHI: Sindh government has announced its plan to introduce double-decker buses in Karachi to modernize public transport.

In a meeting presided over by Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, it was decided to purchase 50 new buses for the People’s Bus Service. Double-decker buses will also be operated in Karachi.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, while instructing the Mass Transit Authority and other concerned authorities to speed up the preparations for the purchase of buses, said that the Sindh government is determined to modernize public transport in Karachi.

He stated that this initiative aims to modernize urban transport by providing cheap and comfortable travel to the citizens.

Speedy implementation should be ensured to meet the growing transport needs of the people. The senior minister also ordered the completion of the bus stations for the People’s Bus Service as soon as possible.

Earlier, the Sindh government issued a minimum salary notification As per the spokesperson of the Sindh Labor Department, the minimum wage will be applied from July 1, 2024.

The minimum wage has been increased after the approval of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to the spokesperson of the Labor Department, there will be a monthly wage of Rs 37,000 in industrial and commercial establishments across the province. Female workers will also be paid at par with male workers.
