RAWALPINDI: In Rawalpindi, the Health Department has enlisted the help of specialized fish to control dengue, releasing fish in sewage, drains, and ponds in various areas of Rawalpindi.
As per media report, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health said that the department has hired tilapia and other fish species to deal with the rising cases of dengue and put them in sewage water, which harbors dengue larvae. They will be eaten before they grow.
CEO Health says that the fish have been released into the water by the Health Department with the help of the Fisheries Department because the small fish eat dengue larvae.
These fish of a special type and size will be helpful in eliminating dengue larvae. He said that every method is being used to prevent and eliminate dengue in Rawalpindi.

It should be noted that according to the report of the Punjab Health Department, 118 more dengue cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, out of which 102 patients belong to Rawalpindi.
According to the Punjab Health Department, during the last 24 hours, 22 cases of dengue have been reported from Chakwal and Sialkot, while 3 cases have been reported from Lahore.
Similarly, one dengue patient has been reported from Pakpattan, Chiniot, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Attock, Kasur, and Gujranwala. According to the Punjab Health Department, 3,403 cases of dengue virus have been reported in Punjab so far this year.
