Excise dept Islamabad cracks down on unregistered, black glasses vehicles, imposes heavy fines

ISLAMABAD: Excise Department Islamabad launched a strict crackdown on vehicles with unregistered, non-specimen number plates, or black glasses and imposed heavy fines.

According to a private TV channel report, Excise Department Islamabad has started actions against unregistered vehicles, vehicles with non-specimen number plates, vehicles with black glasses, flash, or police lights.

It is being reported that heavy fines will be imposed as a result of the strict crackdown, with no exemption for vehicles regardless of their region.

The Excise Department is imposing a fine of Rs. 5,000 on vehicles with 1,000 cc engine capacity, Rs. 10,000 on vehicles ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 cc, and Rs. 20,000 on vehicles above 2,000 cc.

In this regard, Director Excise Bilal Azam stated that no recommendations or pressure will be accepted, and vehicle registration will be canceled until the fine is paid.

Director Excise Bilal Azam added that according to the Chief Commissioner’s notification, if the law is violated for the second time, the fine will be five times more.

On the other hand, the Sindh government has introduced online driving license services for citizens, aiming to facilitate them.

Citizens can now easily obtain learner and international driving licenses through the online service, with non-commercial license renewal services to follow soon.
