KARACHI: All schools in Sindh, both private and public, will be closed on Monday, August 26, 2024, in observance of Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum.
An official notification from the provincial government stated that the decision to close educational institutes was made by a steering committee of the provincial education department.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will be observed across the province on Monday with religious zeal and reverence, under high security.
The event marks the end of a 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram in 680 AD.
Mourning processions featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah will be held in various cities across the province.
On the other hand, the College Education Department announced a holiday for Chehlum Imam Hussain. The sixth notification has also been issued by the College Education Department.
It should be remembered that on August 26, the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain will be observed with devotion and respect, and mourning processions of Zul-Jinah, Taaziah, and Alam will be held across the country.
In connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, a Majlis will be held at Nishtar Park in Karachi. A funeral will be conducted, and the procession will conclude at Hussainiya Iraniyan Khara Dar.
