LAHORE: Najam Sethi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Management Committee, recently claimed that he did not remove Rameez Raja from his position as the Board’s former Chairman. In an interview with a private channel, Sethi stated that when the federal government changed, he remained silent and watched.

Sethi went on to explain that when Raja did not resign, he had two options – either to request that the government remove him and appoint Sethi as his successor, which is constitutionally permissible, or to see what would happen if Raja remained in his post.

Sethi revealed that there came a point when it was decided that Raja should leave, and it would have been better if he had resigned voluntarily. However, if Raja refused to resign, he would have been dismissed from his position.

Sethi also mentioned that he himself had resigned as soon as the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan took office.
