RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Railways has announced the resumption of the Sir Syed Express starting September 1, 2024.

The Railways department announced a significant development: starting September 1, the train will operate between Karachi and Rawalpindi under private sector management.

The train service was halted in 2022 due to severe floods. However, the Railway Department has now chosen to resume it in collaboration with a private logistics firm.

Previously, Pakistan Railways announced its readiness to introduce a ‘Summer Vacation Special Train’ to accommodate passengers more effectively.

As per Ministry of Railways, the train is scheduled to operate from Karachi to Rawalpindi from July 5 to July 30.

An official confirmed that all preparations for the train’s launch have been completed under the guidance of Secretary Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah.

The official further stated that the special train (50-Dn) will start its journey from Rawalpindi on July 5 and continue to run on July 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, and 29.

The official mentioned that the train, departing at 12:30 pm, is expected to arrive at Karachi Cantt by 2:15 pm the next day.

He mentioned that the return service (49-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt on July 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, and 30, departing at 8:45 pm and arriving in Rawalpindi at 10 pm the following day.
