Prime Minister’s free food program launched in Islamabad schools for students

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s School Meals Program will start in Islamabad Federal Government schools on Monday, August 5, through the program, 60,000 children will be provided free food.

Under the Prime Minister’s School Meals Program, the provision of school meals will begin on August 5, 2024, in the government primary schools of the federal capital. A state-of-the-art centralized kitchen will be used to cook food for thousands of children.

According to government sources, the food will be cooked in food-grade vessels using steam cooking technology. After the food is ready, it will be placed in food preservation containers and sent to the schools for delivery.

Children from 217 primary schools in the federation will be able to benefit from the program. According to sources, the aim of this program is to increase school attendance and improve children’s health along with their education. Experts indicate that a lack of food is causing many problems for children.

On the other hand, all the government schools and educational institutions in the federal capital will operate as the authorities have decided to abolish the weekly off on the weekend.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Education stated that Saturday will no longer be an off day for all government educational institutions in Islamabad. The decision will be effective from August 10, as per the communiqué.

It further stated that two extra classes for Language and Mathematics will be held on Saturdays. However, the students will have the option to skip the two classes.
