ISLAMABAD: A video of Public Speaker Sahil Adeem and Host Khalilur Rehman misbehaving with a woman on a private TV show has gone viral.
The woman, Asba demanded an apology from Sahil Adeem for his statement that 95% of women are ignorant. This comment also angered Khalilur Rehman, who became rude towards the show’s host.
During the discussion on women’s rights, Asba requested an apology from Sahil Adeem for his generalization about women. Sahil then asked her, “Did you hear the word ‘Taghut’ before today?” implying that her lack of knowledge made her ignorant.
Asba countered that the discussion was about women’s rights, not Islamic sins. Sahil insisted on his point, stating that according to Islam, it’s a duty to call out ignorance.
When Asba requested a reference for this claim, Sahil spoke about the difference between those who know and those who don’t. She pointed out that not knowing something for the first time constitutes ignorance, and this doesn’t warrant being called ignorant in a derogatory way.
She persisted in demanding an answer to her question and an apology, refusing to be sidetracked by Sahil’s deflection. Sahil then condescendingly apologized, calling her “daughter” and implying she was ignorant.
Asba objected again, requesting a direct answer instead of religious pronouncements in Arabic. This provoked Khalilur Rehman, who rudely interrupted Asba, questioning her discomfort with Arabic verses and demanding the host take away her microphone.
The video sparked outrage on social media, with users praising Asba for standing up for women’s rights and criticizing Sahil Adeem and especially Khalilur Rehman for their disrespectful behavior.
Pakistani actress Mira Sethi also lauded Asba courage on social media.
