ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Sunday raised the price of petrol in Pakistan by Rs7.45 per litre, increasing it from Rs258.16 per litre to Rs265.61 per litre for the next fortnight.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs9.56 per litre, bringing it to Rs277.45.
According to an official notification, the revised prices will come into effect from July 1, 2024.
New Petrol, Diesel Prices in Pakistan From July 1, 2024:
Products | Existing price | New price | Increase/Decrease |
Petrol | Rs258.16 | Rs265.61 | +Rs7.45 |
High Speed Diesel (HSD) | Rs267.89 | Rs277.45 | +9.56 |
In the last review, the government reduced the petrol price by Rs10.2 per litre and the diesel price by Rs2.33 per litre.
The adjustments in fuel prices mark the first revision since the announcement of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 earlier this month on June 12.
In the Budget FY25, the government raised the petroleum development levy (PDL) by Rs10 per litre, increasing it from Rs60 to Rs70, which adds to the financial strain on the inflation-affected population.
However, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb clarified earlier today that the increased levy on petroleum products would not be implemented immediately, indicating that the PDL remains unchanged in the latest fuel price review.
