KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on September 1 (Friday) to commemorate the Urs of saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
As stated in an official notification from the provincial caretaker government, all entities falling under the Sindh government, including offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils, will remain non-operational on Friday, with the exception of essential services.
The province of Sindh will observe a public holiday on September 1, 2023, coinciding with the 14th Safar 1445 (A.H), in honor of the urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA). The holiday applies to all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the jurisdiction of the Sindh government, excluding essential services, as per the official notification.
The annual urs, which spans three days, commences on the 14th Safar of the Hijra calendar. During these three days, various events such as poetry marathons and literature conferences will be held to celebrate the occasion.
It should be noted that the institutions and banks operating under the federal government will remain open as usual.
