RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir held discussions on mutual interests and enhancing bilateral defense collaboration, including defense production and military training, with Saudi Arabia on Friday.
The meeting, held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, saw General Munir assuring Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defence Major General (Engineer) Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi of Pakistan Army’s ongoing support for the capacity building of the Royal Saudi Land Forces.
The ISPR mentioned that during the meeting, Major General Al-Otaibi acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, as well as its efforts toward regional peace and stability.
Additionally, Major General Al-Otaibi co-chaired the fifth meeting of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Defence Collaboration at the GHQ, along with the Pakistan Army’s chief of general staff. The forum discussed global and regional security challenges, emphasizing the need for defense industrial cooperation to address these challenges effectively.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening defense collaboration, focusing on specific capabilities in land, air, and sea domains. Concrete proposals were discussed to achieve tangible objectives within specified timelines.
The visit of the Saudi Major General to Pakistan closely followed a two-day visit to Islamabad by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.
