ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear that it has not offered to appoint anyone as vice-captain for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
According to a Private TV quoted sources from the Pakistan Cricket Board as saying that PCB did not offer to make Shaheen Shah Afridi the vice-captain.
PCB sources said that Babar Azam is a fully empowered captain of the national team.
Earlier, there were reports in the media with reference to sources that fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has refused to become the vice-captain of the national team.
In media reports, it was said with reference to sources that Shaheen Afridi was offered the vice-captaincy by the selection committee for the T20 World Cup.
According to the sources, it was also said that currently Shaheen Afridi is not ready to take this position, after which Muhammad Rizwan is now a strong candidate for the vice-captaincy. However, the Cricket Board has made it clear that no one has been offered the appointment of vice-captain.
It should be noted that some time ago, Shaheen Afridi was removed as the captain of the team, and the captaincy was once again entrusted to Babar Azam.
