KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) exams 2024, originally scheduled to start on May 22, have been postponed across province for five days to May 27 due to heatwave in Sindh.
According to a Private Media Report, the postponement of the intermediate exams was approved on Sunday by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, following the recommendation of provincial Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ali Malkani.
A spokesperson for the Chief Minister said that the Universities and Boards Department changed the date for intermediate exams according to CM Shah’s directives.
Karachiites have been sweltering due to the current heat spell that has gripped the metropolis for the past few weeks, and a significant rise in temperatures is expected over the next 10 days.
Weather expert Jawad Memon has said that the mercury in the city may remain between 38 to 40°C, which will “feel like” 42°C due to high humidity levels.
Emphasizing that the ongoing heat spell in the metropolis will persist and may even see a further increase in temperatures, he ruled out the possibility of rain in the city for the next five to seven days.
