ISLAMABAD: Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s March visit, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have seen increased engagement in recent weeks. Sources revealed on Monday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is expected to visit Islamabad between May 10 and 15.

According to a private TV channel, Prince Salman’s visit holds significance for Pakistan, aiming for substantial investments from Saudi Arabia across various sectors.

This anticipated visit marks Prince Salman’s first trip to Pakistan in five years, the last one being in February 2019 during former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tenure.

The visit also signifies the commitment made in Makkah to attract Saudi investments totaling $5 billion in Pakistan.

While the official announcement of the visit’s dates is pending, it’s noteworthy that MBS was initially scheduled to visit Pakistan in 2023 but the trip was canceled last minute.

A 50-member high-level Saudi trade delegation, led by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Investment Minister Ibrahim Almubarak, is already in Pakistan.

The delegation arrived in Islamabad yesterday for a two-day official visit to explore trade and investment opportunities ahead of Prince Salman’s expected arrival in the coming days.

The companies within the delegation represent various economic sectors, including information technology, telecommunications, energy, aviation, construction, mining exploration, agriculture, and human resource development.
