LAHORE (Islamabad51 Report): The Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PMDA) issued a heatwave alert for Punjab on Sunday.
As reported by Private Media, the PDMA has issued a warning about a week-long heatwave in Punjab from May 21 to 27, advising residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities in the afternoon.
The PDMA alert indicated that Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan could experience a severe heatwave. It also instructed local administration to establish heatwave counters in hospitals.
The administration has been instructed to ensure the availability of necessary medicines for treating heatwave patients.
Various areas of Punjab are expected to experience scorching temperatures of up to 46 degrees Celsius in the coming week. Parts of the country are experiencing scorching hot temperatures.
Earlier, the Federal Government established the nation’s first “Climate Change Authority” under the Climate Change Act of 2017.
