KARACHI: The Sindh Transport Department is set to roll out the second phase of the Pink Bus Service aimed at women, with plans to introduce electric buses on new routes post Eid ul Fitr 2024.
Senior Minister of Sindh, also overseeing Transport, Mass Transit, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, declared the launch of fresh transportation initiatives soon after Eid, as per directives from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to bring positive developments for the public.
Taking to social media on Friday, Memon disclosed the initiation of the second phase of the Pink Bus Service in Karachi to improve commuting options for women. He further outlined the commencement of new routes for electric buses immediately following Eid, along with the introduction of the People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas to cater to the transportation needs of the populace.
Moreover, he revealed plans for implementing a cashless ticketing system for public transport users. Additionally, the Sindh government will kickstart a complimentary shuttle service to connect the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) with the Red Line BRT, aimed at facilitating Karachi residents, starting right after Eid.
