ISLAMABAD : The caretaker government of Pakistan has increased the price of petrol by Rs4.13 per liter before its departure. The prices of other petroleum products have also been changed. The new prices will be applicable from March 1, 2024.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the government has announced a change in the prices of petroleum products. The price of petrol has been increased by Rs4.13 per liter, taking the new price to Rs279.75 per liter.
The current price of high-speed diesel will remain unchanged at Rs287.33 per liter, while the price of kerosene has been increased by Rs1.44 per liter to Rs190.01 per liter.
The government has reduced the price of light diesel by Rs1.14 per liter, taking the new price to Rs170.30 per liter.
The new prices of petroleum products will be applicable for fifteen days from March 1.
It is important to note that the newly elected members of the National Assembly took oath on Thursday. The election of the Speaker and the new Prime Minister will take place in a few days.
It is reported that the government has increased the prices of petroleum products due to changes in international market prices, import premium, and exchange rate.
Earlier, there were reports that the prices of petroleum products are likely to decrease from March 1, 2024, however, the international market has seen fluctuations in the past few days.
