LAHORE: The interim Punjab cabinet has sanctioned the provision of 7,000 electric bikes to male students and 3,000 to female students without interest charges, facilitated by The Bank of Punjab, aiming to address the smog issue.
This resolution was passed during the 40th session of the provincial cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Naqvi lauded the police, administration, and law enforcement agencies for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the general elections held on February 8.
He extended his congratulations to the chief secretary, IG police, and others for overseeing the elections smoothly, underscoring the caretaker government’s effective role.
Highlighting the serene atmosphere in which voters exercised their democratic rights, electing representatives through transparent processes, he expressed gratitude for the caretaker government’s efforts in providing immediate relief to the public.
He emphasized the team’s satisfaction in serving the general public diligently.
The decision to provide 7,000 electric bikes to male students and 3,000 to female students on interest-free terms was reiterated. Additionally, the cabinet approved the establishment of an appellate committee for the Punjab Charity Commission and allocated funds for business facilitation centers.
Moreover, the installation of automated external defibrillators in Rescue 1122 ambulances to expedite treatment for heart attack patients received approval.
Furthermore, appointments of chairpersons for drug courts in Bahawalpur, Lahore, and Multan were endorsed, along with the decisions made in the 16th meeting of the standing committee on law and order.
Provincial ministers, advisers, chief secretary, advocate general Punjab, IGP, Chairman P&D, SMBR, and other officials were present during the session.
