ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi gave the in-principle approval of the National Drug Survey after 11 years, the data of drug users will be collected across the country
According to a news media report, a meeting of the National Drug Survey Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the National Drug Survey was approved in principle
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed to finalize matters related to the survey within 15 days and collect data from educational institutions, slums, and other places besides homes.
The Federal Minister of Interior has ordered that the National Drug Survey should be comprehensive and authentic in any case. Accurate data of the survey is of real importance and will be beneficial.
He said that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the Bureau of Statistics should jointly work out the methodology, nature of data required, sample format, and timeline for conducting the survey.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi further said that there will be no compromise on anti-narcotics. International development organizations will be contacted for cooperation in conducting the survey. It should be noted that the last National Drug Survey in Pakistan was conducted in 2013.
Keep in mind that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had expressed concern over the increasing number of drug-related crimes in his statement on June 26, on the occasion of the World Day against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking.
Shehbaz Sharif said that drugs are a threat to the survival of our society, but with joint efforts, we can be successful in stopping the distribution of drugs in Pakistan.
