Army Chief Stresses Concerns Over TTP’s Safe Havens in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD / QUETTA: The Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir expressed his concerns regarding the freedom enjoyed by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan and their safe havens.

He emphasized the importance of the Afghan government complying with the Doha Agreement by handing over the TTP’s territories to a responsible country, with the assurance that these areas will not be used for terrorist activities.

During his visit to the injured personnel in the Zhob attack, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the terrorist attack. The visit took place at CMH Quetta, where the Army Chief commended the injured soldiers for their dedicated service to the nation and praised their resilience.asim munir visit Islamabad 51

According to a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir received a briefing at Quetta Garrison regarding the recent terrorist attack in Zhob. He expressed serious concerns about the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from safe havens in Afghanistan and engaging in independent terrorist activities. He expressed hope that the interim Afghan government would prevent the use of its territory for terrorism, ensuring the fulfillment of commitments made in the Doha Agreement.

Furthermore, Army Chief General Asim Munir highlighted the issue of Afghan nationals being involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan, emphasizing the need for immediate attention and resolution. He stated that such acts of terrorism would not be tolerated, and security forces would effectively retaliate against any attacks.

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed his unwavering determination to continue the indiscriminate operation against terrorists until terrorism is completely eradicated. Upon his arrival at Quetta Garrison, he was welcomed by the Corps Commander Quetta.
