BSEK urges authorities to impose Section 144 around exam centres

KARACHI: The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) Chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah has called for the imposition of Section 144 of the criminal procedure code around examination centres to discourage the use of unfair means during the ongoing matric exams.
The annual examination for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I and II is scheduled to begin on May 8.

Outsourcing papers not possible: BSEK chairman:

During a press conference, Shah clarified that the board was asked to outsource the papers, but it was not possible for the body. He also requested K-Electric to ensure an uninterrupted electric supply in the city during the examinations.

Science group exams to be held in the morning:

Shah announced that the science group exams would be held in the morning, while general exams would be held in the evening. Over 0.39 million candidates are expected to appear in the examinations this year.

524 examination centres established:

The BSEK chairman said that 524 examination centres have been established to facilitate the candidates, with 245 centres set up for female candidates. Additionally, 97 vigilance teams have been formed to monitor and visit the centres during examinations to ensure transparency.

19 hubs formed for exam paper transportation:

Shah stated that 19 hubs have been formed in different areas for the transportation of examination papers to centres across the metropolis. He added that 79 prisoners will also appear in the examination from jail.
