The security deposit will be based on the load. Consumers in areas where three-phase AMI meters are already installed will not need green meters or extra payments for net metering, as these meters already have net metering features.

Gillani said AMI meters will bring major improvements to the power system. Automated readings will ensure accurate billing and timely delivery of bills. Consumers will also be able to track their electricity usage at any time.

He added that the new system will prevent overload and tripping, reducing transformer and meter damage. It will also help control electricity theft and ensure timely bill collection. Consumers will be able to register complaints about power outages automatically.

The Project Director clarified that the prices mentioned in the notification are only for new connections, while old meter replacements remain free. He advised consumers to contact IESCO offices for more details.
