ISLAMABAD: Additional Registrar Judicial Nazar Abbas has challenged the contempt notice against him in the Supreme Court. The court has formed a 6-member bench for Nazar Abbas’s intra-court appeal.
The bench, headed by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, includes Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, and Justice Musarrat Hilali.
Additionally, Additional Registrar Judicial Nazar Abbas has also requested a stay on the contempt proceedings until a decision is made.
The Supreme Court has scheduled Nazar Abbas’s intra-court appeal for hearing on Monday, January 27. A 6-member larger bench will hear the appeal on January 27 at 1 pm.
It should be noted that Senior Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked during the hearing of the contempt of court show cause notice case against the Additional Registrar regarding bench powers.

He stated, “The 2-member judges committee prima facie ignored the judicial order. We have the authority to issue a contempt of court notice against the judges committee but prefer to refer the matter to the full court.”
The contempt of court show cause notice case against the Additional Registrar was heard by a 2-member bench of the Supreme Court chaired by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. Judicial assistants Hamid Khan, Ahsan Bhawan, and Khawaja Haris, along with Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, completed their arguments.
Additional Registrar Nazar Abbas submitted a response to the show cause notice in court, asserting that he did not disobey the court order. He also requested the court to withdraw the show cause notice.
