ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan has appointed Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa, a distinguished BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), as the new Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Mohammad Ali Randhawa, whose notable service record includes his previous tenure as Commissioner of Lahore, assumes his new role with immediate effect, as per the directives of the Interior Division. This appointment comes following his awaited posting in the Establishment Division, where he was promptly transferred to undertake his responsibilities in Islamabad.
In a consequential move, Captain (retd) Anwarul Haq, the previous incumbent, has been directed to report to the Establishment Division, effectively relinquishing his duties as Chief Commissioner and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Given his new position, Ali Randhawa automatically assumes the role of an ex-officio member of the CDA Board, in accordance with Section 6(2) of the CDA Ordinance. While there are strong indications that Mr. Randhawa may also be assigned the additional responsibility of CDA Chairman, a formal notification to this effect from the Establishment Division is anticipated.
