ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan gears up to face New Zealand in the forthcoming home series starting April 18, adverse weather conditions, particularly rain, threaten to disrupt at least three out of the five T20I matches.

Anticipated thunderstorms and rainfall are expected to hit the city tomorrow, persisting throughout the week. This forecast coincides with the scheduled matches on April 18, 20, and 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Meanwhile, the remaining two matches are slated for April 25 and 27 in Lahore.

The Black Caps, led by Michael Bracewell, arrived in Islamabad early Sunday morning in preparation for the series against the Green Shirts.

The Pakistan team’s practice session scheduled for Tuesday is likely to be called off due to the anticipated downpour.

This situation unfolds against the backdrop of moderate to heavy rainfall experienced in Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh in recent days.

Rains, thunderstorms, and dusty winds have impacted a significant portion of Balochistan and some areas in Punjab. Notably, Quetta experienced substantial rainfall, offering respite from the scorching weather and creating a pleasant climate.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted “rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with an isolated hailstorm” in various regions across Pakistan on April 18, encompassing KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, and upper/southwest Sindh.

Furthermore, on April 20, the Met Office predicted rain in KP, the federal capital, Punjab, northeast Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
