LAHORE: The detailed report submitted by the Advocate General of Punjab to the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the facilities available to Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), in Adiala Jail has emerged.
According to the report, the security ward where the PTI founder is housed can accommodate at least 35 people. A total of 7 cells are reserved for the PTI founder, out of which 5 are designated for recreational purposes, while the remaining 2 cells are for his personal use.
The report indicates that access to Imran Khan’s cell is highly restricted, with no unauthorized individuals allowed entry. Professionally trained personnel are assigned to guard the PTI founder’s ward.
Expenditure and Security Team:
It is mentioned in the report that while typically one officer is assigned for every 10 prisoners in Adiala Jail, 15 officers are designated for Imran Khan.
Among them, 2 serve as security officers, while 3 are responsible for monitoring the CCTV cameras installed for the PTI founder’s security. Notably, a separate CCTV camera system has been installed in the jail, costing 12 lakh rupees per month, solely for monitoring the security of Imran Khan among the 7 thousand prisoners.
Special Regulations and Medical Care:
The report also outlines special rules and regulations regarding Imran Khan’s food. He is provided with nutritious meals prepared in a special kitchen under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Jails. Before serving the food, it undergoes examination by either a Medical Officer or Deputy Superintendent Jail.
In addition to the jail’s medical officer, 6 medical officers from a hospital in Rawalpindi are deployed for the treatment of the PTI founder. Furthermore, a team of specialists from another Rawalpindi hospital conducts weekly visits for check-ups. Imran Khan has also been provided with exercise machines and other equipment within the jail.
Comprehensive Security Measures:
The report emphasizes the implementation of comprehensive security measures during Imran Khan’s incarceration. This includes a security plan during his court appearances, with jail police, Rangers, and District Police assigned to guard Adiala Jail.
Regular search operations are conducted to maintain the jail and its surroundings’ security, along with mock drills for all inmates’ safety. Additional police personnel, Rangers, and elite force personnel patrol the road leading to the jail.
